LO3: Rushes 1

What went well:
We spent a while filming this footage and this means we have alot of usable content.

What we could improve:
We didnt use a tripod to film any of this footage so to improve this we can retake the shot using a tripod for steadier and more blanced footage. We also could try using a range of different angles as we have filmed to many establishing shots.

What we are going to keep:
I will be keeping the shots of:
the two female actors holding the camera
one of the male actors creeping through a doorway
all of the actors walking down the stairs
one of the actors being locked in a room

LO3: Trying to add a jump Cut

I have tried out a jump cut and a slow motion clip, this is to show passage of time. I have also imported all my clips together and uploaded it to my blog. I have also started the shot log, this to evaluate the shots and what went well.

LO3: Footage 1 yeys and neys

Footage 1

The positives of the footage we have is that we have taken enough establishing shot, this is good as it means we have set the scene.

However, we may of taken to many establishing shots as we need a range of different shot to show emotion and body language.

LO4: Lesson Objective

In today's Lesson
I will be trying out post production editing such as jump cutting and slow motion shots

LO2: Recce (Location)

Evidence of location

We will use a tilt shot, this is when the students first see the house and as they look up to the house the cameras tilts with them.

The window at the top will be used when we have a clip of someone trying to escape the building and it looks like they are going to jump. We use a low angle to show how high up they are.

The window at the top will be used when we have a clip of someone trying to escape the building and it looks like they are going to jump. We use a low angle to show how high up they are.

Alternatively we could use this window on the first floor.

These are the stairs which we will film someone falling down the stairs, high angle looking down.

LO2: Treatment - Narrative 2 & 3

TREATMENT – Narrative 2 (DoverCourt)

Film Trailer – Hermione, Molly and Chloe – 03.11.2014

THE BRIEF

The brief is to create a film trailer in the style of Warp.

TARGET AUDIENCE

The target audience of this film is 18+ because of very strong violence, strong horror, strong blood and gore and frequent strong language. The film is not targeted at a specific group however it is not appropriate for people under the age of 18 because of the content. For demographic audience it would be aimed at ABC1 as these would produce more profit and be able to go watch this as it is a sociology-economic group.

SEGMENT SYNOPSIS AND HOW IT RELATES TO THE BRIEF

The students are prepared for what they think will be easy money but it soon becomes once the unexplainable events start happening that this is more than just an empty house. HEALTH AND SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS.

We will make sure we have the contact of the college on our phones if anything goes wrong as in a accident or in danger.
Not to leave bags anywhere on the floor to prevent anybody tripping up.

Make sure we have suitable footwear for the ground in the abandon building as it might not be safe and stable.
Make sure the equipment doesn't overheat.

LEGAL AND ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS.

Our film trailer will follow the rules and regulations of the BBFC (British Board of Film Classification). As our film trailer will be certificated as an 18, it will be able to include the following; Strong violence, sexual activity, strong horror, strong blood and gore, real sex (in some circumstances), discriminatory language and behaviour. The film trailer however will include based on the narrative: strong horror, strong blood and gore and strong violence. The strong horror that will be included in our film trailer will be tension-building sounds such as screams, heartbeats and also clips showing of terror. The strong blood and gore will include scenes with fake blood to make it seem more realistic. They may be strong violence as it will be scenes when they are covered in blood, tied up or locked in a room. We must follow the rules set by the BBFC because the content for an 18 is not appropriate for younger viewers, so that we can correctly certificate our film trailer. The watershed is the point in time after which programmes with adult content can be broadcasted which applies to our film trailer as it includes adult content that is 18. For our music we need to get permission for copyright, we will do this by getting our music off Royalty free websites, this is important so that we aren’t using music that we haven’t got permission for and that would be illegal to use for our consent. Data protection 1998 Law, we will need permission off every individuals that are featured in our video footage, for it to be published or broadcasted, we will use a release and consent to get people’s permission so they will be allowed to be broadcasted.

1.11 Violence, its after-effects and descriptions of violence, whether verbal or physical, must be appropriately limited in programmes broadcast before the watershed (in the case of television) or when children are particularly likely to be listening (in the case of radio) and must also be justified by the context.

1.14 The most offensive language must not be broadcast before the watershed (in the case of television) or when children are particularly likely to be listening (in the case of radio).
2.7 If a demonstration of exorcism, the occult, the paranormal, divination, or practices related to any of these is for entertainment purposes, this must be made clear to viewers and listeners.
2.4 Programmes must not include material (whether in individual programmes or in programmes taken together) which, taking into account the context, condones or glamorises violent, dangerous or seriously antisocial behaviour and is likely to encourage others to copy such behavior. (See Rules 1.11 to 1.13 in Section One: Protecting the Under-Eighteens.)
2.3 In applying generally accepted standards broadcasters must ensure that material which may cause offence is justified by the context (see meaning of "context" below). Such material may include, but is not limited to, offensive language, violence, sex, sexual violence, humiliation, distress, violation of human dignity, discriminatory treatment or language (for example on the grounds of age, disability, gender, race, religion, beliefs and sexual orientation). Appropriate information should also be broadcast where it would assist in avoiding or minimising offense.

TREATMENT – Narrative 3 (Outbreak)

Film trailer – Hermione, Molly and Chloe – 03.11.2014

THE BRIEF

The brief is to create a film trailer which will be horror/adventure/ in the style of warp.

TARGET AUDIENCE
The target audience for this film is 18+ this is because this film would be quite graphic of which this will be including violence scenes and frequent strong language which isn’t suitable for younger viewers. However, this film is not targeted at a specific group. This film is also aimed at both genders; this is because the narrative can be related to by wide audience.

LO2: Narrative change

Changing our narrative
We have decided to adapt our narrative as the narrative that we have produced so far doesn't all make sense making the narrative seem less realistic to the audience. This is because the idea of the prize money from the local newspaper doesn't create verisimilitude.

We have developed the idea to make the film more convincing, we have slightly changed the narrative as the abandoned house is now found by the students while they are walking home, this is more realistic as they go in to the house to clarify the rumors that they have found on the internet. The camera work is mainly filmed by the characters, this will give the filming a natural effect to create social realism.

LO2: Storyboard

LO2: Concept/treatment ideas

Narrative 2:
The start of the narrative for the film trailer ‘Mr Jones’, we see a group of students in a secondary school talking about what they have seen in the newspaper, which is a chance to win a cash prize to go discover what happened in an abandoned house, where previous the couple Mr and Mrs Jones lived. However, nobody knew about what happened to the man of the house Mr Jones after his wife passed away and nobody saw him since. The students get together with a group of cameras and sound recorders as they prepare for their outing at the house. They soon realise as it isn't what they were expecting as the house is spookier and frightening as they thought. The students however, can feel the ghostly spirit of the man himself and know he isn't happy about their presents in his house. The all experience frightening events within their stay, as some students are strangled, tortured, possessed and dragged throughout the darkest corners of the house. Students see their chance to win some free cash by what they think they will be spending a normal night in this abandoned house however they have no idea what they are getting themselves into as the spirit of Mr Jones still lies there after 20 years.

Narrative 3:
At the start of the film trailer ‘Outbreak’, we follow a scientist called John Bennett who lives at home with his parents and has no intentions of leaving the family home, being 34 years of age. The outbreak of Ebola reaches to the UK and gets out of control as people are rising from the dead and out to get the flesh. John uses this as an excuse to stay inside and continue video gaming and also trying out different experiments in his basement. However, something changes in John’s mind as his family are attacked by the Ebola patients what gives John the will power to go out and cure this virus as he has the ability to do this. As he sees the light for the first time in a few years, we see John trying to survive the outside world as well as trying to fight off the Ebola patients. He meets people along the way who are just as dumb as him who are trying to survive this outbreak also. We see John trying to get into the University that is at the other side of the city and we see them fight their way through the difficult outbreak

Our final idea

The narrative that we will be choosing is narrative 2 as this would be easier and more entertaining to make and the narrative 3 maybe too difficult as this would include too many actors into the film trailer with too much work for makeup and this wouldn't be able to get completed in time for the deadline. Narrative 2 would be more suited to our target audience than narrative 3 would this is why we chose to put forward this idea.

LO2: Meetup

We me up at Hermiones to finish our concept ideas/treatment work for our film trailers.
